Tatsuya Nakatani is an avant-garde percussionist and sound artist active internationally since the 1990s. Originally from Osaka, Japan and now based in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, his practice centers on the bowed gong — hand-carved bows drawing out shimmering layers of vibration, texture, and silence from drums, cymbals, and singing bowls. over 80 recordings. 150+ concerts a year. the founder of the Nakatani Gong Orchestra, a traveling community ensemble that has performed at the Kennedy Center.
Aaron Gonzalez is a Dallas bassist, composer, and performance artist with deep roots in the city’s avant-garde scene. a member of Yells at Eels and Akkolyte alongside his family, his practice moves through jazz, experimental grindcore, and free improvisation — always reaching toward something that resists a name.
Kory Reeder is a Denton-based composer and performer described by the Dallas Observer as “one of the most captivating composers in modern classical music.” his work — released on Edition Wandelweiser, Another Timbre, and his own Sawyer Editions label — investigates stillness, place, and the quiet pressure of sound held just at the edge of collapse. a bassist, sometimes pianist, sometimes noisemaker, and one of the most dedicated advocates for experimental music working in North Texas today.
