S Rodriguez's work focuses on queer histories and futures, and how frameworks such as species, gender, race, and language function both as liberatory technology and as oppressive power structure in our current time, and beyond.
Their practice is rooted in their unwavering belief in liberation for all beings, and against oppression. S is the co-founder of Barbee Manshun, a curatorial project focused on democratizing the art gallery and showcasing historically marginalized artists, and of Paraspace Books, an award winning transient queer book shop and workshop project focused on non-canonical sci-fi and speculative futures. They have exhibited and performed at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, DiverseWorks, the Blaffer Art Museum, ACUD Studio Berlin, the Austin Public Library, the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Lawndale Arts Center, and more. S is a former Idea Fund Grant recipient, and Common Field Partner.
