Aaron G + Sarah Ruth = Love4ever, is a collection of graphic and text scores by long-time musical and performance collaborators Aaron Gonzalez and Sarah Ruth Alexander. Each entry acts as instructions for solo or group performances. In one sense, they are theatrical settings for uncovering subconscious themes of interaction, reframing the beauty of everyday life and its impulses. In another, they are rituals for reflection — spells to create magic through intention. The graphic works have varying degrees of determinacy, with a focus on interpreting texture, symbolism, color, and shape into sound and action. The text works set a scene, while asking the performer’s intuition to fill in the meaning for themselves and the audience (real or abstract). Every piece focuses on building harmony with community, nature, and the performer’s own intentions. Solo or in company, indoors or under open sky, asking you to step into the space where everyday gesture becomes ceremony. This book is for anyone willing to become an instrument — musicians, dreamers, practitioners, the ones who look for resonance where none was promised, and find it anyway.
Aaron Gonzalez is a Dallas bassist, vocalist, improvising musician, visual artist and poet with deep roots in the Dallas / Fort Worth / Denton’s avant-garde scene. A member of Yells at Eels and Akkolyte alongside his family, his practice moves through jazz, experimental grindcore, and free improvisation — always reaching toward something that resists a name. Aaron grew up studying classical repertoire in Dallas public schools, attending the Arts Academy at Greiner Middle School and Booker T. Washington High School For The Performing And Visual Arts. He also received lessons from the Young Strings program, sponsored by The Dallas Symphony Orchestra. In his youth, he played with various local rock and experimental bands, eventually beginning an extensive career as a free improvising musician.
Sarah Ruth Alexander is a diverse musician and artist, based in Dentton, TX – a multi-instrumentalist, she employs hammered dulcimer, harmonium, electroacoustic sound art, homemade instruments and extended vocal techniques. She performs frequently both solo and with multiple bands and improvisational ensembles in the North Texas area. She is a University of North Texas graduate where she focused on vocal studies and electroacoustic composition. Sarah curates the Joan of Bark concert series and label in Denton. She also hosts a radio program called Tiger D on KUZU LP broadcasting in Denton at 92.9 FM and streaming online at kuzu.fm, playing music and often featuring guest musicians to curate and discuss their playlists. She recently had a chapter titled “Community Building Through Collaboration,” published in Routledge‘s Art as Social Practice: Technologies for Change and has produced Fellowship of the Arid Plain, a short deep listening/acoustic ecology film with her partner Stephen Lucas, documenting sound and imagery from the area of the Texas Panhandle where she grew up.
